Mandatory for every school in India. Every board. Every year. And 2026–27 added two new requirements.
UDISE+ is India's national school data system. Every recognized school must file it, whether government or private, CBSE, ICSE, or State board. Schools that do not comply risk losing recognition, scheme eligibility, and grant access. Non-compliance notices have been issued to real schools.
The filing window for 2026–27 opened in June and closes when the national data freeze locks on September 30. This year added two new mandatory requirements: every student must have an APAAR ID on file, and schools cannot begin new-year data entry until last year's student progression records are finalized and locked.
The problem most schools hit every September
The Student Data module is the largest part of UDISE+ and the most error-prone. Attendance figures sit in physical registers. Enrollment and withdrawal records are in WhatsApp groups or staff memory. Pulling accurate numbers for the full year takes 3 to 5 hours of manual work. Then it goes through Block, District, and State-level verification, with the principal personally responsible for every figure submitted.
